But it’s ok, cause a mentality is a state of mind–it’s your mental capacity.  Your neanderthal mode and way of thinking is antiquated and out of place.  And the few gents from across the pond that walk around the stadium grasping to their hooligan heydays staring down people as they walk by, need to stop this nonsense; we’re in America, that type of passion is nonexistent here and will never be.

That “rowdie” mentality seems to instigate negative vibes towards anybody around you that’s not wearing green and yellow, a call for a reassessment throughout your whole supporter organization is needed.  Because the fact that your minions are blatantly moseying around the stadium stomping and stealing flags, blasting opposing team’s female supporters profanities and hateful jargon just for being there…I just hope that the power’s that be take more of a proactive approach on this matter; Instead of the usual instigation via electronic media, that seems to take place every time and on every “rowdie” cyber outlet prior to our encounters.

I would like to express my hapiness towards our newest NASL brothers in San Antonio in obtaining their first Home win of the season (Sat 5/5) in spectacular fashion, I cannot find any info on the team they toasted–they’re not that important anyways–regardless, it was another good showing from their supporters, 9000+ showed up for this one (nevermind that it was Cinco de Mayo, and that the population in Texas is, well, largely Mexican) kudos to all of you!

Up next for the Strikers is a little rivalry on the road again:  in Puerto Rico!  After that thrilling come-from-behind point in Carolina, we face off for a second time in less then a month against our beloved Enchanted Enana Faña and see if we can steal a point or three from those Islanders.

As we witnessed our very own Soccer League and also waited for the start of the best European Leagues last year, we were put in front of a whole show that we weren’t aware of. Barcelona and Chivas gave us everything, we shared and made possible the most attended Soccer event record in Florida with more than 70,000 spectators whom also had the opportunity to watch how the score was being ruled by only one team, the bicycle kick goal and the environment itself that made that night unforgettable for all of us there.

With almost no hope and much less enthusiasm, into what looked like one lost season for Chelsea F.C., their players and new Coach Roberto Di Matteo made some changes to keep the boat sailing with the purpose to at least stay in a descent position. Somehow related to the already mentioned team, A.C. Milan had a quite interesting season going up and down fighting over and over (head to head most of the time) with Juventus to win the Scudetto. These two are already set for Saturday night on July 28th, we are not going to watch another game like last year, this one promises to be one yet more intriguing and exciting!
From the experience of Gattuso to the recently turned on spark of Mata, the game itself is preparing for an outraging atmosphere which in one case or another will brake any record
London and Milano united in South Florida is just an example of what soccer allows to happen so humble eyes like ours may be delighted by such beautiful master pieces, and is also the beauty of this game that allows the name of South Florida be pronounced by Chelsea’s high authorities saying “Southern Florida is a hotbed of football support and we cannot wait to resume our friendly rivalry with AC Milan at a packed stadium”.

There are not many left with such essential virtue for life as Patience, but for those who seek and wait diligently the reward will be greater!

Sweet brewed malt adult beverage showers…in your eyes, we dream of greatness such as this at the ‘Lock; but we weren’t sleeping then, this is just a lullaby foreshadowing a sweet campaign. 

Raising eyebrows in the midst of our proffesional Hockey team making their first Playoff push in a long time, The Lebron’s Heat  wrapping things up in the NBA and getting ready for their postseason to commence, and of course we got this new MLB team down there in Lil’ Havana riling things up in their immidiate community; yes, our #15 Forward/Striker/Goliador Aly Hassan made the #2 page page in the 4/26/12 sports section of the Sun Sentinel!  We always get a monthly ‘look’–if that–towards the end of the paper…right at the bottom of Girl’s High School Volleyball results. 

So this is BIG.  We are striking in every which way, on the pitch, locally, with the fans, it’s coming together–we’re not there yet, but it’s extremely better then what Traffic did to my Blues.  So keep it up everyone, keep showing support and love and passion, and this will only be the beginning of Soccer in South Florida!

Aside from our Hat-Trick hero’s performance, we might have lost our original ‘goliador’ #26 F Herron for the remainder of the season…we gonna need more sweet lullabies…

And yes, on Sat (4/28) there’s a few of us that are making the trip up to watch our Boyz play on a baseball pitch North of Albert Whitted Airport–I currently don’t pocess any info on the name of the team Ft.Lauderdale is playing, it seems they are of no great importance in our plan of NASL domination.  However, we shall follow them into battle wherever the league schedules the skirmishes…and please everybody, given our heated history/ rivalry with those guys throughout the last couple of years:  HOLD YOUR SAFETY, and as always:  VAMOSTRIKERS!

He was an early supporter of the Miami Fusion and was there for the final match in 2001. He also was present for preseason kickoff of the now defunct Miami FC in 1996. Nate is now a rabid Strikers fan and also supports Arsenal of the EPL.

The Ultras had a few questions for Nate:

Ultras: You wrote a new song for the Ultras, What inspired you?

Nate: Honestly, the music started from a corrupted drum pattern that I rediscovered one day. If you listen closely, you’ll hear all these random snare rim shots all over the place. I started jamming some riffs over it and hit record. I always wanted to be the first to record an original supporters song and thought the riffs would work for some kind of anthem. It just took on its own life from there.

U: Juggling Beer Balls and acrobatics… Were you a gymnast when growing up? What position did you play?

Haha…yeh, I was a keeper. Actually, I was a top-ranked Class A high school player. I just wasn’t tall enough to be a proper college starter and I was working my way through anyway. The beer ball thing was definitely a natural reaction. I just have no business trying anything like that at my age or in sandals for that matter.

U: A message to your fellow Ultras and all Striker Likers out there?

Every time one of my bands broke up, I’d lose part of my extended family down here (my blood family is still mostly up north). The Ultras supporters group has given me a group of great people from many backgrounds that I can now call my extended family. Here’s hoping this group NEVER breaks up and the Strikers make it to the final again and again!

Wednesday, Mid week: Just a friendly reminder: The Strikers
Football Team, The Strikers Football Team managed to split a point with the
reigning NASL champions, Minnesota. These first two games mark an unprecedented
Eight game unbeaten streak by Ft. Lauderdale dating back to last September!
They also mark #24 GK M. Glaeser 180mins of shutout goalkeeping brilliance.

Mid week, Hump Day: I would like to take this next paragraph, and

address a little ‘hiccup’ of sorts that happened at last Sat (4/14)’s game.
During the singing of our (United States) National Anthem, I couldn’t help but
overhearing loud, unruly catcalls and sarcastic chatter emanating from deep
within Section 115-Our Section. “…and the rockets red glare, the bombs
bursting in air…” That sends chills down my spine, and to have
rambunctious individuals disrespecting all that a lot of Men and Women have
fought hard and died for, it’s just not right. So please, don’t harbor any ill
will towards yours truly: I’m just calling everyone out, just like Kyle and I
have been called out-and a lot of cases kicked out of. And please, anytime
there’s ANY National Anthem being played (our Football Club plays in an
international league, so we are gonna have to sit through Canada’s, and Puerto
Rico’s anthems–specially the latter which we play next Wed 4/25):

Stand

• At the start of the national anthem, everyone present should stop
  what they are doing and stand quietly until the anthem is completed. Do not
  engage in other activities during the anthem even if you are at a casual sporting event.
• Singing along with the anthem is appropriate but not required.

Headgear

• Any man who is wearing a hat that is not part of a military,
  police or firefighter’s uniform should remove
  it when the anthem begins. A man should hold his hat in his right hand with the
  hand over his heart as the anthem plays. Federal guidelines do not say women
  should take off their hats, but the Emily Post etiquette website recommends
  that women remove baseball-style caps.

Salute

• The U.S. Code says that civilians should place their right hands
  over their hearts and that those in uniform should salute while the anthem plays.
  Active duty military who are out of uniform and veterans may also offer a
  military salute.

This Sat 4/21 The Strikers travel to San Antonio, Texas to continue the christening celebrations of our newest NASL franchise:  The Scorpions.  Puerto Rico left them with a 4-Nil scoreboard last week, let’s see if we can bless’em with Two or Three love bits at Heroes Stadium.  And maybe we can get Scorpion’s supporter group President James Hope to don a MiamiUltras scarf and have him sing Glory, Glory to The Strikers.  Of course, MiamiUltras President Uncle Ed will have to do the same if–err, let’s not discuss other outcomes….-D

Our new resident Goliador (this roughly translates in English to:  He who when facing net, buries ball to the back of it), #26 Herron, took advantage of the Defensive torpor and blazed a #3Lorenz’s cross, past the Eddie Keeper and opened up our 2012 season with a mighty Win!

Fort Lauderdale Strikers are going up against all odds this weekend (Sat 4/14)! Yes, we will avenge our Championship failure, and try to rip Three points off of the current NASL Champions:  Minnesota.  The wind in your eyes, or the rain on your head seem to hate you, because you are there-here, going crazy;  Blasting at the top of your lungs, everything that you have for the Red and Gold.

No excuses about the weather, unless you’re a snowbird that just moved down here or are an out-of-towner you should know SoFlo weather is crazy…if you don’t like it, wait 5 minutes, it’ll change.

While there were two new guys in the final, Zach who made the last two finals, but yet to win it all, was eliminated in the First Round. Zach said: “Well sometimes you get the bounces and sometimes you don’t. That’s FiFa 12. I guess today was just one of those days where the bounces went the other way. I’ll be back and in better form next time.”  He was asked: “were you disappointed? He replied “I wouldn’t say I was disappointed, but what do you expect when you play a top ranked Manchester United team. There’s always a chance you will fall behind early on, and it’s tough to come back”.

Then he was asked about this brother’s performance; “I can’t’ speak for him at this time, but he did play well and I applaud his effort against a strong Rangers team in the Final.”

This was Nick’s first time in the Ultras PS3 tourney, and I asked him how he felt about winning the tournament, his reply: ”It was great to advance to the final. I had a lot of fun hangin’ out and playing with the Strikers crew.”

Ultras: How does it feel to be the new Ultras Vice president?
Adam Nessim: “It feels great, the last time I was trusted with authority was in 6th grade and I was voted class president, needless to say my ‘introduction to alcohol class’ idea was my undoing.”
U: In the event that Uncle Ed dies from over drinking at the tailgates, what is the first thing you would do for the Ultras as the new President?
AN: “Make the Ultras a monarchy, Adam the 1st, King of all the Ultras.”
U: A message to your fellow Ultras and all Striker Likers out there?
AN: “My message to all fellow likers would be, ‘Ask not what the Ultras can do for you… Just join and get free stuff. VAMOS Strikers!”

Mitch Rivera, long time Ultra made the trip to support the US National Team and due to his undying support the US came home with a win. Sunil Gulati even stopped by to say hi to good ole Mitch.

As I read reports on the game I kept seeing Mitch pop up everywhere. He was seen on TV and even The Washington Post, Mitch has become quite the star.

Well If you’ve done it down here in South Florida you have noticed the intense variety of cultures, rhythms of music and food. Let’s (it actually is but allow me to say) pretend any football, fútbol or soccer game is a party, more specific this next Wednesday we’re having a party with all the perfect elements we can imagine. As our place the Majestic Sun Life Stadium; as our organizers or party hosts we have all of our South-Floridian fellows, as a background music I’m going to get my hands in the fire saying that at least 50,000 voices, and as the main entree we have Mexico vs Colombia.

Colombia’s national team list was finalized and announced this week as their new coach Jose Manuel Pekerman made it public on Tuesday.

With that being said some of the elements already called to be part of the Colombian National Team play within the “Liga Mexicana” (Mexican League) giving them knowledge and experience of some of the Mexican players. Jose Manuel “Chepo” de La Torre coaches for Mexico since 2010 and also finished filling up his invitations for this party already mentioned.

For Colombia:

• Goalies: David Ospina (Niza) and Luis Enrique Martínez (Once Caldas).
• Defenders: Mario Yepes (Milán), Pablo Armero (Udinese), Camilo Zúñiga (Napoli), Amaranto Perea (Atlético de Madrid), Cristian Zapata (Villarreal) Bernardo Espinosa (Racing de Santander) and Aquivaldo Mosquera (América).

Pekerman’s first game as Colombia’s Coach, Chepo’s almost perfect record in risk, South-Floridian’s passion for the game, Chicharito’s moment, Falcao’s smell for the goal, Coaches’ advanced knowledge, and I just can keep mentioning over and over.
The reasons are more than enough, the invitation is more than open, our passion is intact, the date is almost here, soccer is once again appreciated and well treated in this region. Governors, Presidents, Commissioners, Coaches, Players, Reporters, Fans: WELCOME TO THE PARTY!

There will be 11 of them who will try to input all of their well-earned experience an technique against the “Cafeteros” (Colombian National Team) .

As one of the highlights of the list from the Mexican team, would be Carlos Vela (Real Sociedad) who is returning to the National Team since March of 2011, though he was called to play in Copa America 2011, his club did not allow him to go. Additionally, after a few disagreements between his father and the Mexican Football Federation (FEMEXFUT) the young player Jonathan Dos Santos (Barcelona) will be back.

Many Mexican fans were also expecting the return of a almost turned-off star Nery Castillo (Aris FC) whom after giving discipline problems in almost every club he would step in has seem to settle in Greece. Opposite to Nery’s great moment Giovani dos Santos (Tottenham Spurs) and Javier “Chicharito” Hernández (Manchester United) have been called by what they have shown in the last few months.
