Anatomy of a Leap

leapoffaith

I think that at one point or another in our lives, we all come to a certain crossroad; Where we must ‘take a chance’–if you will, or ‘go with our gut feeling’and to a leap of faith into the unknown. Whether it’s the correct or the wrong decision, we must take it and own up to everything that comes with it for it is that in which real men are judged…=)

There was a lot of things that got out of hand this past Sat 7/14 at Lockhart, during the Scorpions’s match. I will put aside the Wankers’ inefficiency to control the game once again, losing track of your bookings and action of play is a prize that WE (Striker Likers) have basked on since the beginning of the season. And last Saturday was just another standard refereeing performance, that graced the pitch of Lockhart. I think we did a pretty good job of toasting our ol’ MiamiFC friend Walter Ramirez =) everybody on the Defensive side made sure to give him a lil nudge every once in a while to properly remind him of where his roots lie, hehehe–even tho he got the Assist on that stoppage time GOL to rip a point from The Strikers.

After our proficient lanky Defensive Mid #17Shanosky went down, it was logical for Coach Shore to push up with #12D Orosco and have the newly added #21King play as an ‘aggressive’ Defensive mid–which by the way got him in trouble at times. And have our Jamaican National star #16Laing go in, in the 73rd min. and resume his streaking attacks down the Left band like old times, even tho Laing is still a little banged up and wasn’t even supposed to play this early. Finishing the alignment CoachShore put in fresh legs to fortify the mid play by giving our AsstCoach and Striker #9Abe a breather and put in #23 Ramos….him, Laing and Coach took their Leaps of Faith, which culminated in one of the prettiest dead ball scores witnessed at Lockhart to make the Strikers Football Team up 2-1 at the end of regulation.

Which brings me to the point of this here ‘essay’: If there was ever a time for somebody to make a Leap of Faith, was there and then: Scoring the–potential–game winning score, at the end of regulation time in front of the ONLY group of fanatics that have been there since the inception of the team. Nope, our resident Goliador #26 never Leaped with us…he just ran to the middle of the pitch. Left that area aside, to celebrate by ourselves and no one else. Other teams have guys jumping on recliner chairs for God’s sake! We get to see our guys do choreographed dances to themselves. The Leap wasn’t made, therefore Kinetic Infusion of Power could not be injected back to the team in order to withstand the last portion of the match. Maybe I’m being a little sore about this, but EVERYBODY gotta Leap to us, no matter what. Specially when you score in front of us like that. We are the ones that carry you forth, never forget that!

*“When in doubt, make a fool of yourself. There is a microscopically thin line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on earth. So what the hell, leap.”—-Cynthia Heimel
